Learn how to amend an accepted quote and survey if your customer wants major changes. Step-by-step explanation for filling in the inventory list again after quote acceptance.

---

## Problem

Your customer has already approved the quote and the move has been scheduled. But now your customer wants major changes after all: for example, filling in the entire inventory list again with different furniture and items. You don't know the best way to amend this without losing all the information.

---

## Conditions

⚙️ **Please note:** This procedure is only needed for major changes to the survey itself. Do you only want to adjust a few lines in the quote? Then use the standard 'Decline and create a new version' function (see [Changing an accepted quote](link)).

This guide is intended for situations in which you:

- Want to fill in the entire inventory list again
- Are making major changes that affect not only the quote but also the survey

## Step-by-step plan

**⚠️ Important beforehand: Write down your scheduled appointments first!**

Before you start, write down all scheduled appointments (dates, times, who is coming). This information will be temporarily lost and you'll need to enter it again later.

**Step 1: Decline the quote**

1. Go to the customer's file
2. Open the accepted quote
3. Click **More actions** → **Decline**

**Step 2: Cancel the job**

1. Go back to the file
2. Click **More actions** (at the top right of the job)
3. Choose **Cancel job**

⚠️ **Please note:** The scheduled appointments will now temporarily disappear. That's why it was important to write these down first.

**Step 3: Reopen the job**

1. Stay in the same file
2. Click ** reopen**
3. You're now back in the initial phase

**Step 4: Start the survey again**

1. Click **Start survey**
2. You can now enter the entire inventory list again
3. Fill in all items as your customer now wants them

**Step 5: Create a new quote and reschedule the appointments**

1. Create a quote based on the new survey
2. Send the quote to your customer for approval
3. Once accepted: schedule the appointments again (use your notes from step 1!)

---

## Result

You now have a completely new survey with an amended inventory list, a new quote that the customer needs to accept, and you can then reschedule the appointments. The job is back in the correct phase and you can continue preparing the move.

---

## Cause / Background

Why can't this be easier? Bas Software protects accepted quotes and scheduled jobs to prevent mistakes. Once a quote has been accepted, agreements have legally been made about it. Major changes to the survey effectively mean a whole new quote. That's why you have to reset the job and start again.

## Frequently asked questions

**Can't I just amend the survey without redoing everything?** No, once a quote has been accepted, the survey is 'locked'. This is to prevent things that have already been agreed with the customer from accidentally changing.

**Will I lose my appointments?** Yes, temporarily. That's why it's important to write them down first. After reopening the job, you can manually schedule them again.

**Does my customer need to approve again?** Yes, because technically you're creating a new quote. Your customer needs to approve this new quote, even if it looks like the old one. This is legally correct: changes require new approval.

**Can I make small changes without this whole process?** Yes! For small changes (for example, adding or removing a few lines), you can simply use 'Decline and create a new version'. You'll find that option under **More actions** in the quote. Then you don't need to restart the whole job.
