# Features: Prices, surcharges and services

Step 3: adjusting the Bas configuration · Updated: 2026-02-07 · Bas Software

Set the default prices for cubic metres, travel time and mileage. Configure surcharges per property type and prices for additional services such as reassembly, packing and storage.

On the **Settings > Process > Features** page, you'll find the default prices Bas uses when calculating quotes. In this article we cover the **Prices**, **Surcharges** and **Prices for services** sections.

Go to **Settings** > **Process** > **Features** to view and adjust these settings.

## Section: Prices

These prices are used as the default when drawing up quotes.

| Setting | What it determines |
| --- | --- |
| **Price per cubic metre** | The rate per cubic metre of removal volume |
| **Price per hour for travel time** | The hourly rate charged for travel time to and from the customer |
| **Price per kilometre** | The rate per kilometre driven |

**How do these prices work together?**

Say you have a removal of 36 cubic metres, the travel time is 1 hour and the distance is 50 km: - Removal volume: 36 cubic metres x price per cubic metre - Travel time: 1 hour x price per hour for travel time - Mileage: 50 km x price per kilometre

The system adds these amounts together in the quote.

`Tip:` These are **default prices**. You can override them per quote if you want to apply a different rate.

---

## Section: Surcharges

Here you set an **additional surcharge per property type**. This surcharge is automatically added to the quote based on the type of property the customer has specified.

**Available property types:**

| Property type | When a surcharge makes sense |
| --- | --- |
| Apartment | Often no lift, stairs, limited access |
| House | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| Bungalow | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| Office | Can be complex (security, lift, loading bay) |
| Storage | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| Drive-in | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| Double apartment | Similar to apartment |
| Studio | Small, usually no surcharge |
| Villa | Large, but often good access |
| Farmhouse | Can be complex (long distances on the property) |
| Semi-detached | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| Town house | Often narrow, stairs, difficult access |
| Upstairs apartment | Stairs, no lift, difficult access |
| Detached house | Usually good access |
| Terraced house | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| End-terrace house | Standard, usually no surcharge |
| School | Can be complex |
| Nursing home | Specific requirements, limited time slots |
| Residential care centre | Specific requirements, limited time slots |
| Senior housing | May require extra care |

**Our advice:** Most removal companies charge a surcharge for **apartments** and **upstairs apartments** because of stairs and limited access. The other types are often set to 0. Start with a surcharge for apartments only and adjust later based on experience.

`Tip:` Set the surcharge to 0 if you don't want to distinguish between property types. The surcharge will then not be calculated in the quote.

## Section: Prices for services

Here you set the default prices for additional services you offer.

| Service | What it is |
| --- | --- |
| **Warranty certificate** | Fixed fee for the warranty certificate (Schouten Zekerheid) |
| **Insurance** | Fixed fee for the removal insurance |
| **Packing supplies kit** | Fixed fee for a complete packing supplies kit (boxes, tape, bubble wrap, etc.) |
| **Disassembly per hour** | Hourly rate for disassembling furniture |
| **Reassembly per hour** | Hourly rate for reassembling furniture |
| **Packing per hour** | Hourly rate for the packing service |
| **Unpacking per hour** | Hourly rate for the unpacking service |
| **Storage** | Price for storage (per unit per period) |
| **Furniture hoist** | Fixed fee for using a furniture hoist |
| **Rubbish removal** | Fixed fee for removing rubbish after the removal |

**How are these prices used?**

When you draw up a quote and add a service (for example "packing service"), the system automatically applies the default price you've set here. You don't need to type the price in every time.

`Tip:` These are default prices. When drawing up a quote, you can always adjust the price per service.

---

## Tips

- **Check your prices regularly.** Rates change, especially for external services such as the warranty certificate or the furniture hoist. Update the default prices when your rates change.
- **Surcharges per property type don't need to be complicated.** Start with 1 or 2 surcharges (for example, apartment and upstairs apartment) and add more later if you find it's needed.
- **Default prices save time.** The more accurate your default prices, the less you'll need to adjust per quote.

---

## Please note

- **Leaving prices at 0** means the system won't automatically fill in the amount. You'll then have to enter it manually for each quote. Always enter your most commonly used rate as the default.
- **Surcharges are added automatically.** If you set a surcharge of 175 euros for apartments, this will be automatically added to every quote for an apartment. Check that this is the amount you intend.
