The Settings > Working method > Features page contains the settings for time tracking. In this article, we cover the Time Tracking section.
Go to Settings > Working method > Features to view and adjust these settings.
Include break in working time
What it does: Determines whether break time is counted as working time in time tracking.
Setting | What happens |
On | Break time counts as working time. An employee who works 8 hours with a 30-minute break has 8 hours recorded |
Off (default) | Break time is deducted. An employee who works 8 hours with a 30-minute break has 7.5 hours recorded |
Our advice: Leave this off. In most cases, you don't want to record break time as productive working time. This gives a fairer picture of the hours actually worked.
Note: If your CLA or employment contract stipulates that breaks count as paid working time, turn this on.
Default gross hourly wage
What it does: Sets a default gross hourly wage used as the basis for calculations.
Default value: 0.00
Our advice: Enter the average gross hourly wage of your employees here. This is used for internal cost calculations. If you don't use this, you can leave it at 0.
Tip: This is a default value. You can set a different hourly wage per employee in the employee settings.
Tips
Check your CLA. Whether breaks count as working time depends on your CLA and employment contracts. Align this setting with what is legally correct.
Setting a gross hourly wage per employee gives more accurate cost calculations than a standard average.
Please note
Including breaks in working time when this shouldn't be the case leads to inflated time records. You then pay for more hours than were actually worked.
