Guiding app installation

Guide your employees through installing and configuring the Bas app. Learn how they log in, set up Face ID and what to do if there are problems.

The employee has received the invitation email and created a password. Now the app needs to be installed. In this article, you'll learn how to guide employees through installing and configuring the app.

Step 1 - Downloading the app

The app is available for both iPhone and Android.

Platform

What to do

iPhone / iPad

Open the App Store, search for "Bas Medewerker", download the app

Android

Open the Google Play Store, search for "Bas Medewerker", download the app

Note: An Apple ID is required for iPhone/iPad. If an employee doesn't have an Apple ID, one needs to be created first. This can be a stumbling block - make sure employees sort this out in advance, not on the day of go-live.

Step 2 - Logging into the app

After downloading, the employee opens the app and enters:

  1. URL: your company's name .bas.app

  2. Email address: the email address as entered in the system

  3. Password: the password the employee created via the invitation link

Example: - URL: yourcompany - Email address: [email protected] - Password: the password Jan created

Tip: If an employee gets stuck on the password: it must contain at least 8 characters with a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. Communicate this on the A4 guide.

Step 3 - Setting up Face ID or fingerprint

After the first successful login, the option to set up Face ID (iPhone) or fingerprint (Android) appears. This is important: if the employee sets this up, the password only needs to be entered once. After that, the employee logs in with facial recognition or a fingerprint.

This prevents most password problems. Advise every employee to set this up straight away.

How it works:

  1. After the first login, the option "Use Face ID / fingerprint?" appears

  2. The employee selects "Yes"

  3. The system asks to scan Face ID or a fingerprint

  4. Done - the next time they log in, the app uses facial recognition or a fingerprint

Tip: Set up Face ID / fingerprint after the first login. This prevents 90% of all password problems. Put this on the A4 guide.

Step 4 - Password requirements

The password must be sufficiently strong: a combination of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers and special characters. The system doesn't always communicate the requirements clearly. Warn employees about this in advance.

Password requirements: - At least 8 characters - At least 1 uppercase letter - At least 1 lowercase letter - At least 1 number - At least 1 special character (such as !, @, #, $)

Example of a valid password: Moving2026!

Note: If an employee tries a password that doesn't meet the requirements, they'll get an error message. Communicate the requirements clearly in advance on the A4 guide.

Step 5 - Web version as an alternative

Does an employee have an older phone that's no longer supported by the App Store or Play Store? Bas also has a web version.

How it works:

  1. Open the Bas URL in Chrome (for example: yourcompany.bas.software)

  2. Log in with your email address and password

  3. In the menu, choose "Install as app" or "Add to home screen"

  4. The web version now works like a regular app

Tip: The web version has the same functionality as the app. The only difference is that it runs in the browser instead of as a native app.

Common problems

Problem 1: Forgotten password

Solution: Use the "Forgotten password" feature in the app. The employee receives an email to set a new password. Then set up Face ID or fingerprint straight away so this doesn't happen again.

Problem 2: App doesn't work

Solution: 1. Check the internet connection - the app needs internet 2. Check whether the app is up to date (latest version in the App Store / Play Store) 3. Fully close the app and reopen it 4. If nothing helps: delete the app and reinstall it

For very old phones that are no longer supported: use the web version via Chrome as an alternative.

Problem 3: The app icon looks blurry (Android)

Solution: This is a known Android quirk. It's not a bug and has no effect on how the app works. Reassure employees about this.

Problem 4: Apple ID needed but not available

Solution: An employee without an Apple ID can't download apps on iPhone/iPad. They need to create an Apple ID first. This takes time - arrange this in advance, not on the day of go-live. Alternative: use the web version.

Tips

  • Set up Face ID / fingerprint after the first login. This prevents 90% of all password problems. Put this on the A4 guide.

  • Communicate the password requirements in advance. This way employees know what's expected of them and won't get stuck creating a password.

  • Check in advance whether all employees have an Apple ID (for iPhone/iPad). Otherwise, installation will take extra time on the day of go-live.

  • Use the web version for older phones. If the App Store or Play Store doesn't support the app, the web version is a good alternative.

Please note

  • An Apple ID is needed for iPhone/iPad. If employees don't have an Apple ID, installing the app will take extra time. Arrange this in advance.

  • Not communicating the password requirements leads to frustration. Employees try a simple password and get an error message without knowing why.

  • Not setting up Face ID / fingerprint means employees have to enter their password every time. This leads to forgotten passwords and extra work.

  • Older phones may not support the app. Check in advance whether all employees have a supported phone, or use the web version.
