About LiveQuote
A moving quote starts with the question of how much has to go. LiveQuote answers it through an ordinary video call: AI recognises the furniture live on screen and estimates the volume, with no app or special camera. The first pilots are running in the Netherlands.
It is not finished yet. A dining room had seven chairs; our AI counted nine, because the phone walked around the table. That is the kind of problem you want to solve.
LiveQuote is a sister company of Bas, the market leader in software for movers with 2,500 users. We want to grow fast, also outside the Netherlands, and we make choices based on data.
Why we are looking for you
LiveQuote has to go from pilot to product. For that, the AI has to become accurate enough that a mover dares to trust the quote. Right now Alexander and a few freelancers work on the AI; we are looking for someone who focuses on it full-time and takes ownership.
A year from now, the call runs a model you fine-tuned on our own data, with a benchmark on real rooms that shows at every release whether the m³ is getting better. How you get there is largely for you to work out.
Who we are looking for
- A researcher who likes to build: you work out what works, test it and take it to production.
- A team player who shares findings, also when something does not work.
- Honest about results: a ‘this does not work’ with numbers is worth more than a nice demo.
- You keep movers in mind: the technology has to save them time.
- You want to feel responsible for a new product.
What your day looks like
After a short daily you train, measure or take something to production, from the GPU workers to Holmes, our own platform for labelling and data.
You work with Alexander (code and review), Paul (product owner) and Casper, co-owner, who knows how a mover looks at a room.
About 10 to 20% of your time you label data yourself and review the labellers.
One or two days a week we work together at the office in the Eindhoven region, the rest of the week from home.
What you bring
- Production-level Python: typing, tests, the basics of FastAPI.
- PyTorch and real experience fine-tuning detection, segmentation or VLMs.
- Computer vision on video: tracking, frames, codecs.
- You measure honestly: you design a benchmark and say what the number does and does not measure.
- You use AI tools as much as you like, but you can explain every line you deliver.
Our tech
Python with FastAPI, PyTorch, RF-DETR and SAM 2 with TensorRT, a fine-tuned VLM and LiveKit with WebRTC, on our own GPU servers and always the latest versions. We work with Linear, GitLab, Claude Code and Codex.
A plus: experience with 3D or depth from video or published research.
The less fun part
Labelling is part of the job. The data is messy, and these are recordings from people’s homes, so privacy matters. Many of the best models cannot be used commercially, and research and production share scarce GPUs.
What we offer
- From €4,500 gross per month for 40 hours (32 to 40 hours is negotiable), depending on your skills, plus 8% holiday allowance and the chance to earn shares in LiveQuote.
- A one-year contract with Bas Software, with a permanent contract as the goal. You work full-time on LiveQuote.
- 27 days of holiday, and if you fall ill, we pay 100% of your salary for both years of sick leave.
- A personal pension plan with Brand New Day (we contribute 5%), a MacBook Pro, AI coding subscriptions, a home working and phone allowance, and travel expenses.
- The freedom to research, responsibility for a new product and the latest techniques.
- A small, informal team focused on results.
